Former Coronation Street actress Tina O’Brien

EastEnders actor Scott Maslen

Billy Connolly’s wife Pamela Stephenson

-

We understand that the judging panel will remain the

same as last year, Len Goodman, Bruno T. Craig Revel-

Horwood & Aleshia Dixon!

-

Breaking news; Claudia Winkleman will present the

Sunday night results show with Tess Daly for series 10

of Strictly Come Dancing!

It has been reported that Bruce Forsyth is too tired to present the results show, which is filmed directly after the live show goes out on Saturday.

Last year Claudia stepped in for Brucie when he had the flu (as well as good old Ronnie Corbett) and BBC producers obviously liked what they saw.

An insider said: “Claudia is the perfect choice as she already has a history with Strictly.

“It will be all about girl power with Tess at the helm as well.”

Hmm girl power, it’s not the Spice Girls, get with it BBC!

Claudia will be great fot the Sunday night results show as she already has a great rapport with all the professionals and the judges and she’s a safe pair of hands.

Good on you Claudia!

-

Contestants on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing will

be revealed in a launch show filmed in front of an

audience at BBC Television Centre.

They will also be introduced to their dance partners in the one-hour show, to be aired on 11 September – three weeks before the start of the contest. It is thought stars will be paid on a per-show basis this year, rather than being given a flat fee for the series.

And it is understood Bruce Forsyth will no longer present the results show.

The 82-year-old – who missed an episode of Strictly last year after catching influenza – has already revealed that will be taking a pay cut for the 2010 series.

-

How time flies! The new series of Strictly Come

Dancing is fast approaching and rehearsals are due to

start this week.

We think we already know some stars that are heading for the Strictly 2010 line-up so let’s have a look at who they are:

Tina O’Brien – star of Coronation Street

Felicity Kendall – Actress famous for The Good Life

Gary and Danielle Lineker – Football legend, BBC Stalwart and his model wife

Gavin Henson – Welsh rugby player and Charlotte Church’s (ex) husband

Ann Widdecombe – Conservative MP

Patsy Kensit – Actress

Frank Bruno – Former Boxer

An interesting bunch so far but I’m still hoping for some big names this year and let’s hope that they don’t get knocked out in the first round – we miss you Martina!

Latest update from the BBC Website on Strictly Come

Dancing

Three new guys join the team

Artem, Jared and Robin will thrill Strictly viewers this autumn

After last year’s introduction of three new female dancers, this year sees three new male professionals taking to the dance floor on Strictly.

Each of them brings a new area of dance expertise and will join in a series which features more genres of dance than ever before – in both the competing couples’ routines and the professional group dances.

This year Strictly will welcome:

ARTEM CHIGVINTSEV, a Latin Champion who is a graduate of ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ in the US and has unique experience of very different dancing genres in addition to his ballroom champion-level skill.

JARED MURILLO, who at 21, was a US open Swing Youth champion. Trained in America, Jared was a principal dancer in the movies ‘High School Musical’ 1 & 2.

ROBIN WINDSOR has completed five world tours of a worldwide ballroom show. He says that he’s not a “conventional” style of ballroom dancer.
This series sees the addition of a professional dance group, dedicated to performing routines on a scale never before seen on Strictly. The group will feature Strictly regulars and some new professional faces. The group routines promise to deliver show-stopping dance spectacles.

BBC Controller of Entertainment Commissioning Mark Linsey says “Strictly will be back this autumn with more world-class dancers and more spectacular dancing than ever before. I’m delighted to be welcoming three new fantastic dancers to Strictly and am really excited about the introduction of a professional dance group, giving us even more opportunities to feature different areas of expertise and more genres of dance than in any other series.”
This year on Strictly there will be 14 celebrities vying for the title. The 14 pro dancers partnering the celebrities will be:

Artem Chigvintsev, Jared Murillo, Robin Windsor, Anton du Beke, Brendan Cole, James Jordan, Vincent Simone

Ola Jordan, Flavia Cacace, Erin Boag, Kristina Rihanoff, Natalie Lowe, Aliona Vilani, Katya Virshilas

-

UPDATE: 26th July 2010

Ian Waite and Darren Bennett will return to Strictly as part of this series’ new professional dance group, and will be joined by four new recruits – one male and three female – who will be confirmed as the series draws nearer.

Matthew Cutler won’t return as a permanent member of the dance group. Instead, he’s concentrating on a burgeoning choreographic and teaching career, plus managing his own dance school, which he opened last year. He will, however, return to choreograph some of the group numbers – and a few guest appearances aren’t ruled out.

Matt said: “I’ve absolutely loved my time on Strictly, and now is a good time to focus on developing new areas of my career. I’m excited about having more time to commit to new projects, and of course, still having a hand in Strictly without all the training!”

Lilia Kopylova will also be bowing out of Strictly, but like Matt, will stay with the show on an ad hoc basis and may make a guest appearance.

Lilia said “I’ve had six brilliant series on the show, I will miss it, but I am looking forward to new opportunities ahead. Of course I will be there to support Darren and all of my fellow professionals.”

The professional dance group will perform spectacular routines throughout the show, in a series which is bigger, better, and more than ever before, all about the dance.

Strictly Come Dancing will return to BBC One in the Autumn.

Regulars to our dances will know that we have been fortunate to have with us at many of our dances, Heidi & Jocheu visiting from Germany.

Jocheu has been working at Brighton University on a project which has now ended and they returned to Germany at the end of February. Despite the language differences they have both made many friends during their time here, many of you will have spoken with them at our dances and know what a friendly couple they are. For me the memory of Heidi & Jocheu is their dancing, which they do wholeheartedly and with such apparent enjoyment. It is what dancing should be about for the social dancer.

After six weeks of explosive performances, exhausting rehearsals under the tutelage of some of the dance world’s leading choreographers, and dramatic judgements, Charlie Bruce has been named Britain’s Favourite Dancer, and crowned the winner of the first series of BBC One‘s So You Think You Can Dance. Following a dramatic final week which saw fellow-finalist Robbie White withdraw from the competition, due to an injury sustained in rehearsal, tension was fever-pitch between the remaining three finalists as they headed in to tonight’s Grand Final.

Performing Pop Jazz, Tango, Hip Hop, Samba, Lyrical, Broadway, Jazz and Contemporary routines in groups and couples, as well as their all-important solos, the finalists had their work cut out to impress the viewers at home and get the chance to dance on the US show and take home the £100,000 prize.

Standing in for Robbie, who appeared at the start of the show with host Cat Deeley, were former contestants Alastair Postlethwaite,Mark Calape and Drew McOnie in routines partnered with the competing finalists.

McOnie later teamed up with former dance partner Hayley Newton to perform the Judges’ Favourite dance from the series – their much-loved Contemporary ‘Bed’ routine performed in Week 2, choreographed by Raphael Bonachela.

After all the performances, the judges reflected on the performances of the evening.

Nigel Lythgoe said: “All the dancers were inspirational and, I think, for series two, it’s going to inspire all the dancers sitting out there wondering if they’ll audition. They’re all going to get up and audition after tonight… any one of these three are worthy winners, and the whole point of not just the £100,00 but actually going to Hollywood to expose their talents to 20 million people and work with all those choreographers… it’s a chance in a lifetime.”

For Arlene Phillips, it was “a battle of the girls, and Lizzie tonight in Sweet Dreams – her acting was absolutely phenomenal… that edged it for me.”

Louise Redknapp agreed it was all about Girl Power: “I’m along with Arlene on this one and I think Lizzie in Sweet Dreams and Charlie in the lyrical.”

Sisco Gomez, however, sided with Tommy, saying that his routine with returning dancer Mark was the highlight: “That Hip Hop was representing.”

After the couples’ performances, each dancer performed a solo to showcase why they should be named Britain’s Favourite Dancer.

On Lizzie’s solo, Louise said: “Let me say this is not a one-horse race! Lizzie, your solo every week is unique. Not many people can spin on their head the way you did. You are a strong, edgy, cool, exciting dancer and I love you.”

On Tommy’s shirtless solo, Arlene said: “Tommy, what you do is unique. I have to say last week’s solo was phenomenal, this week’s solo was phenomenal too. You live, breathe, hear, feel and see music. And taking your shirt off too was pretty good.”

On Charlie’s solo, Arlene said: “Charlie, you have just changed tonight and grown through this series. That solo was one of your best. It wasn’t necessarily your very best, but what you have done through the night is mega, honey. Mega.”

Eliminated in third place was Lizzie Gough, leaving Tommy Franzenand Charlie to go head-to-head for the title.

Of Lizzie’s time in the competition, Arlene said: “Never mind the audience ringing and voting, phones will be ringing for Lizzie right now from choreographers and producers to get this outstanding talent in some way. I know that.”

Following her elimination, Lizzie said: “I think I’ve been lucky because I’ve had a different style every week and I’ve never had a bad routine. I’m still going to go to America and kick ass over there!”

Cat Deeley later announced the results and, after weeks of hard-work, it was announced that Britain’s Favourite Dancer was Charlie!

Following the announcement, Nigel said: “I’m exhausted. To have seen Tommy and Charlie grow across this series has been wonderful. Both were spectacular this evening but, for me, Charlie edged it. I’m going to be so delighted to take her to America.”

And the newly-crowned champion, an emotional and tearful Charlie, said: “I’m absolutely speechless. Thank you so much. I did it. I did it… I’ll never forget this!”

The results show had performances from Robbie Williams singing the official Sport Relief single, Morning Sun; a group dance featuring the three finalists to I Gotta Feeling choreographed by Paul Domaine; as well as a spectacular routine reuniting all the show’s former dancers to Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance.

Actress Michelle Gayle and singer Heather Small are among the celebrities who have signed up to take part in a new BBC dancing competition.

Dancing On Wheels is dancing as you have never seen before.Amazing is the word that springs to mind. BBC Three has set a first in the television dance world. It’s new six part show, starting in 2010, has celebrities dancing with wheelchair users in a bid to find the couple to represent Great Britain in the European Wheelchair Dance Sport Championships in Isreal.

None of the wheelchair dancers has ever danced in his or her chair before, let alone ballroom and latin, and the celebrities have never danced with a partner in a wheelchair.

So it’s a very different set up to strictly where at least one is a professional dancer.

The celebrities, which include Mark Foster, Heather Small, Martin Offiah, Kevin Sacre, Caroline Flack and Michelle Gayle give their all in something very new in Great Britain, although the discipline is performed as a new paralympic recognised sport in over 23 countries around the world.

There are the usual joy, tears and the odd tantrum in rehearsals, and the disapointments and the acheivements in the performances as well as looking into the lives of the wheelchair contestants.

Judges are Strictly Come Dancing’s James and Ola Jordan and paralympian Ade Adeptian
